N.J.'s Joseph Gallagher, Esq. Evades $1 MILLION in Taxes.

Marlene Naanes & Deon J. Hampton, "Consultant Admits Evading $1 MILLION in Taxes," in The Record, August 18, 2011, at p. L-3.
"A tax preparer and DISBARRED lawyer from Rutherford" -- friend of Mr. Edgar Navarete? -- "admitted Wednesday that he dodged more than a million dollars in federal income taxes," federal authorities said.
"Joseph Gallagher used his expertise as a tax preparer to avoid reporting more than $3.3 MILLION in income to the Internal Revenue Service, according to federal investigators. He failed to disclose a significant amount of his income on tax returns he submitted for 2004 through 2006, and he failed to submit tax returns for 2007 or 2008, U.S. Attorney [for New Jersey] Paul J. Fishman said in a statement." ("Senator Bob, the Babe, and the Big Bucks.")
I can neither confirm nor deny Edgar Navarete's troubles relating to trust account issues and/or fees not paid to professional colleagues -- like Liberto Marotta -- or even clients.
Was your office used as a site from which to orchestrate actions against me, Edgar? Did you "cooperate" with the OAE's John McGill? Terry Tuchin? Diana Lisa Riccioli? Did this "cooperation" involve a breach of fiduciary relations and corruption of secretaries at my office, Edgar? Would you ever insult a colleague or so-called "friend" behind his back, Edgar, to steal clients or fees? Whatever happened with those marijuana charges before you became an attorney, Edgar? Did you disclose those charges in your bar application documents, Edgar? That's so irresponsible! ("An Open Letter to My Torturers in New Jersey, Terry Tuchin and Diana Lisa Riccioli.")
I believe that Mr. Fishman is a Democrat appointee. Hence, Mr. Fishman finds it difficult to discover corruption in New Jersey's Democrat-controlled counties. Mr. Fishman has claimed to be baffled at the charges that "New Jersey is the most corrupt jurisdiction in the nation." No one else is baffled by such allegations, Mr. Fishman. ("Mafia Influence in New Jersey Courts and Politics" and "More Mafia Influence in New Jersey's Political and Legal System.")
Mr. Fishman wishes to become a federal judge some day. This will require the cooperation and assistance of many of the politicians whose "shenanigans" Mr. Fishman must investigate.
Does this "delicate situation" or tension between personal ambition and duty create a conflict of interest for N.J.'s U.S. Attorney? No, what the hell. ("Anne Milgram Does it Again!")
"Gallagher, 68, pleaded not guilty to one count of tax evasion before U.S. District Judge Noel L. Hillman" -- I seem to recall Mr. Hillman from our law school days -- "in Camden on Wednesday, authorities said. The count was for failing to report income of at least $770,445 for 2008 on which he owed $73,803 [a mere trifle?] in federal income tax. The terms of his plea agreement stated that the tax loss for all five years will be taken into account when he is sentenced on December 1."
Mr. Ghallager is alleged to be a former member of the New Jersey Bar Association's Legal Ethics Committee for his county. This information concerning such membership is usually kept secret and (therefore) the OAE will usually lie about the matter, allegedly. Any connection between Mr. Ghallager and Jose Ginarte? I hear that Mr. Ginarte has some ethics troubles. Good luck, Jose. ("New Jersey's 'Ethical' Legal System" and "New Jersey's Office of Attorney Ethics.")
Mr. Ghallager was accused, allegedly, of sharing his ill-gotten gains with the likes of Stuart Rabner and/or Debbie Poritz in exchange for no state prosecution or action by the OAE -- until he was busted by the feds. Evidently, this "sharing" did not include the feds -- if it occurred. Even the OAE was forced to act in this matter, eventually, despite the fact that this "gentleman" (Mr. Ghallager) is not the kind of attorney the OAE normally goes after. ("No More Cover-Ups and Lies, Chief Justice Rabner!")
"Ghallager faces up to five years in prison, authorities said. Ghallager was released on $50,000 bond on Wednesday pending sentencing. His lawyer, Brian Neary, could not be reached for comment."
It is good to see old friends, Like Mr. Neary and Mr. Hillman doing well. A comment on the recent guilty pleas by Mr. O'Malley and several distinguished members of the bar in New Jersey is coming up soon. A list of sources detailing additional recent examples of corruption in New Jersey's legal and political system will be added to this essay. ("Law and Ethics in the Soprano State.")

I Told You So.

William K. Rashbaum & John Eligion, "District Attorney Asks Judge to Drop Strauss-Khan Case: 25-Page Filing Lists Doubts About Housekeeper," in The New York Times, August 23, 2011, at p. A1. (The District Attorney's brief and supporting papers are public documents that are available to citizens and others under U.S. freedom of information laws and Constitutional provisions.)
The slogan over the federal prosecutor's office says: "The prosecutor always wins when justice is done."
Mr. Vance has demonstrated the accuracy of this statement -- at least in New York where it applies to both feds and state prosecutors -- by making it clear that Mr. Vance is not and will not become a grandstanding would-be politician nor an OAE attorney in New Jersey, which may be worse. Mr. Christie, this may come as a shock to you these days, but one is not obligated to speak into every passing microphone. ("New Jersey's 'Ethical' Legal System" and "New Jersey's Office of Attorney Ethics.")
The attempt to politicize prosecutorial responsibilities or to intimidate Mr. Vance by means of behind-the-back tactics and threats of a political nature, conveyed through staged press conferences, are an ugly indication of how things are done "elsewhere." ("Law and Ethics in the Soprano State.")
I do not believe, happily, that such below-the-belt tactics will succeed or ever be accepted in this great city. The Big Apple is too big for such sleazeball lawyering carrying a familiar and foul Garden State aroma to thrive and spread. ("Corrupt Law Firms, Senator Bob, and New Jersey Ethics.")
Obviously, Ms. Diallo's lies caught up with her. No amount of coaching from "secret" advisers, as I predicted some time ago, will obscure the transparency of Ms. Diallo's self-interested falsehoods -- falsehoods that were probably scripted by others who are still seeking a small fee for their services while remaining quite willing to produce bribed or false witnesses for purposes of "corroboration." ("New Jersey's Politically Connected Lawyers On the Tit.")
In a crowded legal profession it is amazing what some lawyers will do for money. These are the lawyers who "finagle" fees or clients from colleagues by using people to write false letters from behind-the-scenes in the names of others, letters usually containing bogus allegations -- like those brought against DSK. Have you no sense of shame, Mr. Menendez? ("Jennifer Velez is a Dyke Magnet!" and "Does Senator Menendez Have Mafia Friends?")
I doubt that we will ever know the full truth behind these accusations, especially the political motives (if there were any) for ousting a good socialist from the International Monetary Fund at the point when serious consideration was to be given to the problem of Third World debt. DSK's politics and concerns are widely shared by many people in the world. ("Time to End the Embargo Against Cuba.")
The harm suffered by DSK from these now discarded allegations certainly hint at dark conspiracies or grabs for power by persons who have become familiar to us from newscasts. An audit of the finances of DSK's successor has been undertaken, allegedly. There is no telling what the authorities will discover in some financial closets. Right, Mr. Garcia? ("Senator Bob, the Babe, and the Big Bucks.")
My view is that good-old greed and not politics explains a lot of this catastrophe. I am aware of the pending civil law suit against Mr. Strauss-Khan which will be vigorously defended, I am sure, by him -- and which may be accompanied by Mr. Strauss-Khan's own claims for damages against those responsible for this nightmare, including some attorneys involved in the case.
The harm suffered by this man who is -- at least, legally speaking -- NOT GUILTY of any crime or fault cannot be compensated easily. An effort should be made to do just that, to make the victim whole, promptly and fairly. For now, there is only one winner in this sad farce: Mr. Vance and the people of New York.

Blog Wars.

Whatever their intentions may be in Trenton I will continue to focus in this blog on corruption and unethical conduct among New Jersey judges and lawyers, payoffs to and thefts by politicians and others in the Garden State.
I will write additional philosophical essays, short stories, scripts, while working on a novel. I will publish my work in America (where and when censorship permits!), but also and much more beyond the U.S. -- where I have reason to believe and hope that my writings are attracting a small following as they continue to appear in more than one language. I am actually being read in Cuba and, maybe, in China -- or so I believe. This unexpected popularity surprises and delights me.
Sadly, I expect continuing defacements of texts and other harassment efforts that have been the only response provided, thus far, to overwhelming evidence of New Jersey's governmental criminality aimed against me and others.

All posts at each of the blogs are copyright protected (2024) and beyond. The texts may not be altered, copied, or published without the express and written permission of the author.

Copyright protection will be renewed on a yearly basis (if possible) to comply with changes in U.S. and international intellectual property laws.
Racism and censorship are evils that create their own forms of resistance. The goal of the various frustrations and attacks aimed against me and my writings -- all of it is criminal -- is to discourage my writing, even as my work is often plagiarized. In fact, the opposite of the expected reaction has occurred: I have continued to write. My work is being read in many places in the world, I have reason to believe, where (as I say) I hope for more publications of my writings in the years to come.

Curiously, I have yet to be banned in Boston.
It has been said that the first casualty of any war is freedom of speech.

If this is true, then democracy loses every war.

I am sure that this statement is not true.

It is precisely in times of war that truth must be spoken, freely. My truth is found in these blogs. No one will intimidate me or discourage my writing efforts.

Do not allow anyone to prevent you from reading whatever you decide is meaningful for you.

No justice, no peace.

Shame on you, New Jersey.
"Behavior modification, with its brute offspring of electroshock and psychosurgery, is the creature of an apprehensive society in full retreat from the ancestral values of the Bill of Rights and its accumulated legacy of constitutional law focused upon the person -- manifesting concern for his liberty and a respect for his privacy, extending around him a blanket of immunities and protections, and furnishing a framework for the free exercise of self-expression and self-determination. That democratic spirit, with its generous faith in the potentiality of human nature (what used to be called its 'indefinite perfectibility'), has represented the mainstream of American thought and belief up to the present day -- when it has been abruptly and formidably challenged by forces of reaction" -- Mr. Trump? -- "whose hour, it is supposed, has come round at last. These are the same dark forces that have always lurked in the shadows and waited in the wings ["The Dark Arts"] and more than once have had their brief hour upon the stage -- but each time have been undone by their ruthlessness and 'paranoid style' of politics, as Richard Hofstadter termed it."
